As if this season hasn’t already been defined by injuries, the Vikings lost more key players in Sunday’s 30-24 loss to the Detroit Lions at U.S. Bank Stadium. It started with rookie receiver Jordan Addison, continued with tight end T.J. Hockenson, and ended with pass rusher D.J. Wonnum all going down. Asked about the injuries postgame, head coach Kevin O’Connell did not sound optimistic.Though it’s unclear if Addison or Hockenson will be available when the Vikings host the Green Bay Packers next weekend on New Year’s Eve, O’Connell made it sound like Wonnum won’t be able to play. That makes sense considering Wonnum had to be carted off the field. There have been a number of significant injuries for the Vikings this season, with franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins suffering a torn Achilles tendon, star receiver Justin Jefferson missing a month due to a hamstring injury and pass rusher Marcus Davenport missing time with a high ankle sprain. That h...Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson did everything he could in loss to Lions

You almost started to forget how good star receiver Justin Jefferson is after he was out injured for so long.He provided a remind on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium before the Vikings ceded the NFC North crown to the Detroit Lions with a 30-24 loss.In total, Jefferson finished with 6 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown, dazzling everybody in attendance with the way he consistently made an impact. He absorbed massive hits in the open field while still holding onto the ball. He climbed the ladder for an incredible catch when his teammates needed it most. He recovered a fumble late in the game to make a comeback still feel possible.“He’s a beast,” quarterback Nick Mullens said. “You just have so much trust in him.”That makes the final play for the offense even harder to stomach in hindsight. In the final minutes, the Vikings trusted Jefferson to win his matchup, and he did with relative ease. He was running in open space with a chance to take the l...State troopers, Boulder County deputies fatally shoot driver on U.S. 36 Sunday

HOUSTON (AP) — Case Keenum and the Houston Texans’ offense couldn’t do anything Sunday against the Cleveland Browns in their second game without star rookie C.J. Stroud.Keenum managed just 62 yards passing and threw two interceptions before being replaced by Davis Mills late in the 36-22 loss. Stroud remains out while recovering from a concussion he sustained Dec. 10.“We just didn’t do enough today,” Keenum said. “We got our butts kicked and that’s never fun. I hadn’t had it like that in a while.”After squeaking out a 19-16 overtime win at Tennessee last week, Houston struggled from the start Sunday and didn’t score on offense until the fourth quarter.“When we had positive plays, we ended up having a negative play,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “It just seemed like we couldn’t get out of our own way. And when you continue to hurt yourself, the self-inflicted penalties, negative yardage, sacks, those plays just keep you behind the chains and it’s hard to keep up versus a very good defens...Grounded charter jet freed to leave France. PARIS (AP) — A charter plane sequestered while carrying 303 Indians to Nicaragua was authorized Sunday to leave the French airport where it has been grounded for four days for a human trafficking investigation. A lawyer for the airline said the plane would take many of the stranded passengers back to India on Monday.Local authorities were working through Christmas Eve on formalities to allow some passengers to leave the small Vatry Airport in Champagne country, regional prosecutor Annick Browne told The Associated Press. All of the passengers, including a 21-month-old child, had been stuck in the airport terminal since Thursday. Two passengers were detained as part of a special French investigation into suspected human trafficking by an organized criminal group. Several others requested asylum in France, according to the local administration. Prosecutors said 11 passengers were unaccompanied minors who were put under special administrative care.
