TORONTO (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau apologized Wednesday for Parliament’s recognition of a man who fought alongside the Nazis during last week’s address by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.Trudeau said the speaker of the House of Commons, who resigned Tuesday, was “solely responsible” for the invitation and recognition of the man but said it was a mistake that has deeply embarrassed Parliament and Canada.“All of us who were in the House on Friday regret deeply having stood and clapped, even though we did so unaware of the context,” Trudeau said before he entering the House of Commons. “It was a horrendous violation of the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holocaust, and was deeply, deeply painful for Jewish people.”Trudeau repeated the apology in Parliament.Just after Zelenskyy delivered an address in the House of Commons on Friday, Canadian lawmakers gave 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka a standing ovation when Speaker Anthony Rota drew attention to ...Albertin Montoya named coach of NWSL expansion team Bay FC

WASHINGTON (AP) — Apple was never serious about replacing Google with Microsoft’s Bing as the default search engine in Macs and iPhones, but kept the possibility open as a “bargaining chip” to extract bigger payments from Google, a Microsoft executive testified Wednesday in the biggest U.S. antitrust trial in a quarter century.“It is no secret that Apple is making more money on Bing existing than Bing does,’’ Mikhail Parakhin, Microsoft’s chief of advertising and web services, said in U.S. District Court in Washington. The comment drew a laugh from the courtroom. Parakhin was describing Microsoft’s years of futility trying to supplant Google on Apple devices.Analysts estimate that Apple collects $15 billion to $20 billion a year in revenue-sharing payments from Google in return for giving its search engine the coveted default slot on Apple’s devices. The revenue is generated when users click on advertisements in search results. The U.S. Department of Justice accuse...Westminster police warn of sextortion scam targeting children

Slow zones due to unsafe tracks are affecting the MBTA’s newest tracks on the Green Line Extension. The extension to Medford opened in 2022, and inspectors have already discovered the distance between rails in some places has narrowed too much to maintain normal speeds.“When it’s really bad, it’s really frustrating,” one T rider said. The MBTA Dashboard shows numerous slow zones along the extension, often as slow as three mph until repairs can be made. The Healey Administration said the extension was largely built by the previous administration, and they have discovered the problem and will fix it.“Obviously I’m not happy about that but you know I can’t unring that bell,” Healey said. They were installed last year. I’m glad we detected whatever the issue is and it’s our job to fix it and deal with it which we are doing now.”7News rode the extension and saw the train quickly get up to almost 30 mph to quickly slow to 3 mph.“I was just debating getting off and getting an Uber,” said T rid...Chicago Cubs’ blown game in Atlanta is a blast from the past — the 1998 Brant Brown ‘Oh, no!’ drop

Seiya Suzuki’s missed eighth–inning fly ball that sent the Chicago Cubs to a crushing 7-6 loss Tuesday will no doubt go down in infamy. The immediate reaction from Cubs fans watching at home was one of horror, as many flashed back to a similar play on Sept. 23, 1998, at County Stadium in Milwaukee.Like Suzuki, Cubs outfielder Brant Brown had been a key player in their wild-card race. But when a fly ball by Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Geoff Jenkins bounced off his glove with two outs in the ninth inning, bringing home three runs in an 8-7, walk-off loss, Brown felt like his world caved in.“Basically my whole philosophy all year, no matter if I’m starting or coming off the bench, is just to try to contribute,” Brown said that day. “Today wasn’t the best contribution. You just have to go on. Life goes on. It’s not the worst thing that’s ever going to happen to me. Hopefully it is, but you know, it’s just something tha...Ticker: R.I bank to pay $9M settlement; UAW eyes strike expansion
