BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman who was a victim of childhood sexual abuse has been awarded $100 million in a jury verdict, the Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria LLP law office announced Tuesday. The settlement is believed to be the largest in New York State history for a lawsuit filed under the Child Victims Act. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Empire are looking back to move forward. Tom Menas, the former Albany Empire coach, tells NEWS10 Sports Director Griffin Haas he has agreed in principle to return as the team's head coach. Menas won back to back championships for the Empire, but was fired on April 6th, just 10 days before the team's season opener. Menas said at the time that the new owner, former NFL All-Pro Antonio Brown, wanted to go in another direction, but added he only positive interactions with the Brown family. This move comes just one day after interim head coach Damon Ware and six players left the team. A 40-year-old man who was wanted by the United States Marshals is under arrest after a pursuit and standoff Tuesday in Bell Gardens, authorities announced. The suspect, now identified as Genaro Jacquez, came to the attention of officers with the Bell Garden Police Department a day earlier, on May 1, when they responded to reports of vandalism at a Shell gas station, located at 5970 Florence Avenue. At that time, police were able to identify Jacquez as one of the suspects involved in the incident. The investigation also revealed that the that the 40-year-old was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service on a no-bail warrant and was believed to be armed and dangerous, authorities said. A man from Santa Paula was convicted of two first-degree murder counts on Tuesday for the 1993 murders of his estranged wife and her boyfriend. According to a report from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Everardo Meza Alamillo visited his estranged wife Adriana Meza’s house in Santa Paula on Oct. 13, 1993, because she wanted Alamillo to be a part of their daughter’s life. Alamillo left the house and then returned later that evening armed with a .22-caliber rifle.
